An International Driving Permit issued in Eritrea should also not be treated as valid for driving in Japan because Eritrea is not recognized by Japan as a country that can issue a valid 1949 Geneva Convention IDP.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Japan\u2019s driving rules are based on the country that issued the license, not the driver\u2019s nationality.
